Overview

Residents of Dare County live, work, and play along the beautiful Outer Banks seashore. Yet, when someone in the Dare community is diagnosed with cancer, the remote location can sometimes prevent access to specialized cancer care. The goal of the Dare County Outreach Program is to link Dare County to the resources of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, the N.C. Cancer Hospital and other services within the region. The program’s main components are the specialty clinic held every other week and its Cancer Outreach Nurse Navigators. The Dare County Outreach Program is a partnership with Dare County, UNC Health Care and the University Cancer Research Fund.
