NC Cancer Hospital Continued

As part of the region’s leading public academic medical center, UNC Lineberger and the NC Cancer Hospital see providing access to leading-edge treatments through clinical trials as a key part of our mission.

The NC Cancer Hospital includes a new Early Phase Clinical Trial Unit – where patients can be closely monitored by specially-trained nurses – as well as increased space for all clinical trials.

This expanded unit is located close to the clinical laboratories and, like other areas across the hospital, includes vacuum-tube transport of lab samples to expedite lab results, enabling quicker, safer and more efficient care.

Patients may have access to promising therapies as they are first tried in humans – trials that are not offered at other cancer centers – thanks to this phase one facility and the Good Laboratory Practices facility let by Dr. William Zamboni in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy.
