• 2008 Innovation Awards (Deadline June 12, 2008)

The application window for the first round of the 2008 Innovation Awards re-opens from June 17, 2008 at 5:00 pm EDT till June 18, 2008 at 5:00 pm EDT.  We anticipate a second round of applications with a deadline in early December. To apply, click here.

The 2008 Innovation Awards will operate under revised guidelines, posted below.  Application will involve electronic registration, proposal upload (single PDF no bigger than 2MB), and a hardcopy.  See the guidelines for complete details.

• 2007 Awards

In 2007, we received 123 total applications, including 112 for the Innovation Awards and 11 for the Clinical Innovation Awards programs. The 123 applications requested $18.3 million in support. These applications came from faculty representing nearly 30 departments in the College of Arts and Sciences and in the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Public Health.

The Fund made 18 Innovation awards (16th percentile) for a total of $2.26M in UCRF support. The 18 awards included: 12 Basic Science (19% of submitted), four Clinical/Translational (14%), and two Population Sciences (11%). Of the 18 awards, 13 to the School of Medicine, 1 each to the Schools of Pharmacy and Public Health, and three to the College of Arts and Sciences. The Fund also made eight Clinical Innovation Awards totaling $508,000. Awards went to investigators in six departments. One award was to an investigator in the College of Arts and Sciences. The other seven went to departments in the School of Medicine, including Medicine (4), Obstetrics-Gynecology (1), Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (1), and the Health Sciences Library (1).
